The island of Newfoundland lies off the coast of Eastern Canada, with Labrador situated across the Strait of Belle Isle, on the Quebec border.

A vehicle ferry service operates from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to the island of Newfoundland:
To Channel-Port aux Basques in the Western Region
To Argentia in the Avalon Region, on the eastern side of the island.

The island of Newfoundland & Labrador is divided into 5 travel regions:
